Pain Relief Services
STRIC offers spine and joint image-guided treatments. Our radiologists correlate imaging findings with clinical assessment, deliver image-guided therapy with documentation of needle placement, and use minimally invasive procedures designed for maximum potential for relief. All procedures are performed by specialized musculoskeletal radiologists.
Pain Relief Treatment Candidates
- Persistent pain that does not improve with therapy
- Neck, back or sciatic pain
- Abnormal imaging study
- Degenerative arthritis
- Joint-centered pain
- Spinal stenosis
- Disc herniation
Vertebral Augmentation (Kyphoplasty / Vertebroplasty)
- Using fluoroscopy guidance, bone cement is placed into weakened or fractured bones of the spine.
- The cement stabilizes the bone and promotes healing, thereby reducing or eliminating pain.
Nerve Root Block
- Helps determine pain origin and reduce inflammation.
- Steroid and anesthetic are injected into the area surrounding a single nerve root in the spine.
Facet Block & Denervation / Facet Injection
- Block is performed to assess if the pain is coming from the small joints in the back of the spine.
- Long term relief of pain can then be achieved by thermal ablation of the nerves to the joints.
- A facet intraarticular injection is performed to relieve facet joint pain.
Joint Treatment (includes bursa & tendon treatment)
- Image-guided injections provide maximal success.
- Upper and lower extremity intraarticular injections.
- Sacroiliac joint intraarticular injections.
- Peritendinous and bursal injections for pain.
- Calcific tendinitis aspiration.
- Baker's cyst and ganglion cyst therapy.
